SARAH FARTHING
CBC ConcertWith classically trained fingers and a voice like burnt brown sugar, this guitarist singer-songwriter has a clutch of songs and a thirst for adventure. Her music matches her propensity for being both earnest and goofy. From the sardonic "Oh Why Did You," to the gentle optimism of "Love Songs," to the jubilant determination of her "Uh Oh (The Elephant Song)," these songs run the gamut of human emotion. Her sound nestles into the sweet spot between folk-rock and pop, with just enough swagger.

BELLE PLAINE
"This Is A Big Deal" Party and CD Launch
with guest: Julia And Her PianoVoted Regina's 'Best Singer', Belle Plaine's brand of jazz fusion unites swing with vintage country and feminine pop.
"If Patsy Cline and Blossom Dearie had a love child she would sing like Belle Plaine. Belle's voice is old timey and jazzy. It has twang, crystal bells and swing. You listen to this voice, and all of a sudden your cheatin' heart has a very dry martini in hand, and you're hearing something both timeless and brand new." - Kelley Jo Burke, host of CBC's SoundXchange
Belle is an acoustic guitar-playing, storytelling vocalist who Grant Lawrence declared his "musical discovery" at the 2010 Regina Folk Festival. Audiences will hear three-part harmonies and experience a set list that includes Belle's original music, sensual jazz standards such as Fever and Bye Bye Blackbird, in addition to country classics such as Mamas Don"t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys.
The full band: Elizabeth Curry, Jeremy Sauer, Kris Craig, Jody Mario, and Cheney Lambert from Regina's Pile of Bones Brass Band on trumpet!

JOEL FAFARD
Joel Fafard is that rare breed of instrumentalist: the kind whose appeal reaches far beyond the realm of serious guitar enthusiasts. The gifted slide fingerstyle player writes stirring, melodic compositions that paint pictures as vivid as any song with words.
He sings with the sexy, sandpapered-sounding vocal style of the new-generation bluesman. He tells his hilarious between-song stories with the confidence of a late show host delivering his monologue. And when he lets rip a solo on his resonator guitar, it's easy to hear how he earned both a Juno nomination and a Western Canadian Music Award for his skills on the axe. Nominated for Traditional Singer of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards 2011!

WHITEHORSE
(Melissa McClelland & Luke Doucet)Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet tie the musical knot with their band, Whitehorse, marrying their talent and chemistry on stage as a smoldering duo. Gutsy and resolute in their pursuits of sound and substance, Luke and Melissa's fusion of the personal and professional brings to mind the road-tested romance of Johnny and June.
Individually, Luke and Melissa have been recognized with awards and nominations from the Juno Awards, the Canadian Folk Music Awards, the Hamilton Music Awards, the Independent Music Awards and Polaris. Together, Luke and Melissa create music that cascades forth, rushing like currents fluid and electric. More than the sum of considerable talents, Whitehorse showcases the rarity of true give and take in partnership, uniting falcon with songbird to dramatic effect.
